CMS Deep Dive (the "Tool") is an internal analytics tool operated by Shorthand Studios at deepdive.shorthand.studio. It analyzes the performance of videos on YouTube channels that Shorthand Studios manages through its YouTube content management system (CMS). Access is limited to authorized staff of Shorthand Studios and Underscore Talent.

YouTube API Services

The Tool uses YouTube API Services. By using the Tool you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

What we collect when you sign in

The Tool uses Google sign-in. When you sign in, Google shares your email address with the Tool. The email address is used for exactly two things: confirming that it belongs to an approved company domain, and keeping you signed in. It is held in a session cookie in your browser and is not written to any database, not shared with anyone, and not used for any other purpose.

The Tool sets one cookie, the session cookie that keeps you signed in. There are no advertising, analytics, or third party tracking cookies, and no ads are served.

Channel data the Tool accesses

Under Shorthand Studios' own content owner authorization, the Tool retrieves data about videos on channels in the CMS from YouTube API Services: first party analytics (views, watch time, audience retention, traffic sources, subscriber activity, estimated revenue, impressions and click-through rate), captions, public video details, public comments, and still frames sampled from the video for visual analysis. Videos are never downloaded or stored.

How that data is used and shared

The data for a video is assembled into a report. To write the analysis, the report inputs (metrics, transcript, comment excerpts, the thumbnail, and sampled frames) are sent to Anthropic's Claude API, which under its commercial terms does not train models on this data. Frame sampling runs through Apify's platform. The Tool is hosted on Railway. Data is never sold and never shared beyond these processors.

Storage and deletion

Finished reports, which contain the analytics snapshot, the written analysis, and transcript and comment excerpts, are stored on the Tool's private server so they do not have to be rebuilt. Every report is a dated snapshot, can be refreshed at any time with Analyze again, and can be permanently deleted in the Tool with the Delete button on the open report. To request deletion of any stored data, contact the address below and it will be honored within 7 calendar days.

Revoking access

You can revoke the Tool's access to your Google account at any time in your Google security settings. Signing out of the Tool clears its session cookie, which is the only place your email is held.
